Waka Waka

Have you heard the World Cup's theme song - Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)?  I heard the song once, intended to keep the 'spirit' until when the World Cup actually starts.  By my instructor kind of spoiled it for me - he did the Waka Waka in my Zumba class last night.  (Oh, wait, it's no longer called Zumba, but I forgot the new name...)  The first time I heard it, I thought the song was catchy, good to dance to, but a bit too long for a song.  But dancing to the song last night, I actually thought it was quite too short!  Haha.

So, being me, I played the song all morning -  just can't get enough of it, especially if you dance in your head.  Erk.. sounds wrong isn't it?  But you get what I mean, no?

Checked out Youtube for the official video, but my 'Waka Waka' keywords returned too many results.  Managed to watch a few within the short lunch break, and these are my favourite:

I also found out that Shakira is promoting education campaign for children worldwide.  The 'challenge' is simply to dance simple steps to the Waka Waka song, video tape yourselves and upload it on Youtube.  Couldn't find the official promo video for this, but I saw one clip that shows several football players participating in the video.
I'm really thrilled by this project  -- the cause, the fun way to participate and the fact that several football players are also willing to participate in it!  Although this campaign might have been launched some time ago, I think we can still upload videos.  Let's Waka Waka!
